Laura was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. Laura’s career in the arts began in 1979 when she graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver. She worked as a graphic designer for advertising agencies in Colorado, Arizona and Montana. In 1993 she opened her own design shop, Arts Place in Missoula, Montana, where she also worked as a freelance scenic painter for MCT Community Theatre, the University of Montana and Bigfork Playhouse. She discovered her love for the large canvas while working as a scenic painter and began an 18-year career as a muralist. You can find her murals in more than 40 HuHot Mongolian Grill restaurants across the United States. In 2008, Laura spent the summer in Florence, Italy studying and improving her drawing skills. She has had numerous solo exhibitions and group shows including the Missoula Artist Show and Icons of the West shows at the Dana Gallery, Lake Gallery Bigfork is on Xanadu’s Online Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona, has been part of two group shows in New York City and Chicago, is represented by Copper Sun Gallery in Bigfork, Missoula International Airport and has recently been featured in Missoula Magazine.
